My father started in the car business in Sherburn in 1967. I grew up there and graduated from St. Cloud State University in early 1981. I wasn’t planning to move home to get in the car business, but my father had his top salesman retire and wanted to bring in some “young blood”. I moved home, sold my first car by going door-to-door (really, farm-to-farm) and now running a Chevy dealership has been my only job my whole adult life. In 1989, we purchased the dealership in Fairmont and moved the company from Sherburn. In 2021, it will be 40 years for me and 54 years in business for Hawkins Chevrolet. From the beginning, we have been a community-minded business and relied on great relationships with the area for our success. Most of our team are long-time employees, for which we are thankful. We are excited for what the future will bring for our great rural communities. My wife, Kate, is a Fairmont native and we have three boys and two granddaughters. In my spare time, I work on my business and am involved in my community. ? I love most anything involving technology and am an Apple Cult Member. I also love marketing with and using social media. Now that my younger brother Steve is running the company, I hope to start cutting back and travel more.

My family has been in the car business my entire life. I grew up in Sherburn, MN and graduated from the first graduating class of Martin County West in 1989. I then graduated in 1993 from St. Cloud State University.

After graduation, I started working for the family dealership in Fairmont in the service department. In 2010, I moved into the sales department and became the Sales Manager. In 2018, I became the General Manager. My wife is Heather and I have two college-age daughters, Molly at the University of Minnesota and Megan at Minnesota State-Mankato.

I enjoy traveling, cooking and spending time with family.

I’ve been around the auto industry virtually my whole life starting with my dad’s humble beginnings in Sherburn, MN back in 1967. Through my teen years, I often help cleaning vehicles at the dealership.

After graduating from Mankato State University, I spent three years as a teacher in South Dakota. In July of 1991, I joined the family auto business as a salesperson. I eventually became a partner with my brother Tom and spend much of my time purchasing inventory and backing up Tabitha in the finance department.

I married Jodi, my high-school sweetheart in 1985 and we have 2 grown children, son Adam and daughter Krista.

My specialty is helping customers find the vehicles they want for a price they can afford. Feel free to contact me anytime.

As an Army child, I was lucky to grow up seeing the world. I began high school in Brainerd, MN and moved to Austin, MN for my senior year, graduating from Pacelli High School. My wife and I married in Austin in 2002 and we started our family. I enlisted in the Air Force in 2004 as a Vehicle Mechanic. While serving, I received my Associate’s degree in Vehicle Maintenance and my bachelor’s degree in business management.  After serving for 10 ½ years, I was medically separated and returned to Minnesota with my wife and 3 children. I then began working as the shop manager for an independent semi-truck repair shop in Austin, MN. After about 4 years. I returned to turning wrenches as an automotive technician for Wuerflein Chevrolet/Buick/GMC/Honda dealerships in Albert Lea, MN for about 3 years.

My family and I reside in Hayward, MN, where my 3 children attend Albert Lea High School. My daughter Kourtney is enrolled in the 18-21 program, which assists her in working at a local hotel. My two sons, Kris and Triton, are both involved in sports, primarily wrestling (which I am fortunate to be able to help coach) and football. My wife works as a mental health therapist in the Albert Lea Area.

I enjoy spending time with my family. We stay busy with a couple of horses and sporting events for our kids. We enjoy fishing, completing home projects, working on vehicles, BBQing and just spending time together.

I spent my early years in Mankato, MN and graduated from Mankato East High School. Then I attended South Central College and studied Auto Body & Collision Technology.

When I was 13 years old, my family moved to a small hobby farm near Lake Crystal. I thoroughly enjoyed living in the country and working around the farm. I now live in the small town of Madelia where I met my wonderful girlfriend, Blair.

My hobbies and interests have mostly revolved around cars, trucks, and outdoor motorsports of all kinds. It was no surprise to friends and family when I joined the automotive industry at the early age of 16. I have since developed a passion for helping people, especially those who need their vehicle repaired after a collision. My goal is to take all the stress out of the repair process by keeping it simple and easy for our customers.
